After many years of building trust and love through grueling competition, many people struggle over what to do with their friend when they can no longer complete. Bluestone is an all-inclusive equine retirement facility dedicated to the care and well-being of performance horses.

We are a small, private facility specializing in the care of the older horse. We provide personalized attention. All horses are supervised daily and receive exceptional care including individualized feeding and supplement schedules utilizing the best quality hays and senior grain. We offer turnout in safe, secure pastures with compatible horses and shelter access. Routine farrier, immunizations, veterinary care, seasonal blanketing, and fly control is also included.

We understand the connection between a horse that has performed for years for you and your desire now to make sure he is cared for. This is an important transition and we welcome you to call with any questions you may have.

Lay-Up Facilities

When the unfortunate happens, it's fortunate to have a facility you can trust. Bluestone provides the best of care, supervising and treating all horses to their veterinarian's advice with years of hands-in experience we can provide your friend with the individualized care he needs. Whether it's a simple injury requiring stall rest for two weeks or a longer term commitment, Bluestone helps to give the owners the peace of mind they need while their horse recovers.

Following an initial diagnosis made by your veterinarian, we'll work closely with the professionals to formulate a treatment and recovery program to optimize the best results for your horse. The lay-up facilities at Bluestone feature oversized stalls, several individual turn-out and an assortment of generous paddocks and pastures that are available-ranging from 3 to 10 acres. The lay-up barn is separate from the show/training barn to provide a more peaceful atmosphere for the recovering horses and ponies. We also feature centaur fencing for the safety of our equine friends.
